Internet Access – Physical Links

Internet Access – Physical Links 2019-05-15T06:43:24+00:00

Du Pont Telecom provides a variety of Physical Links to facilitate the provision of Internet Access and Managed Services to its customers. These Physical Links provide high speed data transfer connections, and are available across various connectivity platforms.

Leased Line Circuits – Powered by Telkom

Du Pont Telecom provides the Telkom fixed line solution using the Diginet Plus technology which provides a high speed fixed line link allowing for a dedicated quality connection between two points. The speed of these lines varies from 128Kbps through to 1984Kbps.

Direct Leased Line Links – Powered by Altech Technology Concepts

Du Pont Telecom provides a second fixed line solution provisioned on Telkom’s Diginet backbone.

However, unlike the ‘Point-to-Point’ solution powered by Telkom, this solution offers a cost effective, high speed “Point-to-Cloud” pipe directly into ATC’s network, from where it is managed and optimized for Voice and Data in line with the customer’s connectivity needs. This solution can be used for Internet Access, MPLS or VoIP requirements.

Metronet Wireless Circuits – Powered By Broadlink

Du Pont Telecom provides this wireless solution using the MetroNet technology which provides a high speed wireless link allowing for a dedicated quality connection between two points. This service requires a feasibility study and the consent of the landowner prior to final commitment of the proposal. The speed of these lines varies from 512Kbps through to 155Mbps.

Wireless Circuits – Powered by Altech Technology Concepts

Du Pont Telecom provides a wireless solution using its own network and wireless technology based on the ISM band. This provides a high speed wireless link allowing for a dedicated quality connection between two points. This service requires a feasibility study and the consent of the landowner prior to final commitment of the proposal. Remember to include the charge for the Port which varies based on speed and on whether the connection is used to connect directly to the Internet or into an MPLS.

Channel Bonding Access Service – Powered by Altech Technology Concepts

A Channel Bonding Service is where multiple ADSL connections of the same type and speed are combined to create a single virtual high-speed connection. This complex operation allows for the creation of high speed connections. Depending on the number of ADSL circuits that are bonded together, download speeds up to 20Mbps and upload speed up to 2.5Mbps can be achieved.

ADSL – Powered By Telkom

Du Pont Telecom has a wholesale partnership agreement with Telkom which give it direct access to the Telkom ADSL management systems. This allows Du Pont to order, upgrade, log a fault and access the ADSL exchange to check the status or change the configuration of an ADSL line. This allows for an improved level of management and support of the ADSL services.

Metroconnect Fibre Circuits – Powered By Metrofibre Networx

Du Pont Telecom provides this world class broadband fibre connectivity solution which provides a reliable high speed link allowing for a dedicated quality connection between two points. This service requires a feasibility study carried out by the 3rd party service provider. The speed of links varies from a minimum 2Mbps up to 1Gbps. Pricing for links above 20Mbps is available on request. The links are available on three quality of service (QOS) options:

  • Basic – suitable for standard internet access and email, ideal for SME requirements
  • Priority – ideal for higher volume priority traffic i.e. backups, data files etc.
  • Realtime – optimised for high volume high speed data requirements (voice, video data)

Metroclear Fibre Circuits – Powered by Telkom

Du Pont Telecom provides a MetroFibre solution through Telkom. This service also requires a feasibility study carried out by the service provider. The speed of links varies from a minimum 4Mbps up to 600Mbps. Pricing for links above 20Mbps is available on request. The links are provided on three different COS categories:

  • RealTime – suitable for applications such as voice and video traffic i.e. Voice over IP (VoIP) or Video Conferencing
  • Business – intended for mission critical data applications that are interactive or time dependent such as databases and interactive ERP and CRM applications
  • General – “Best effort” delivery intended for non-mission critical applications such as Internet browsing and email

Neotel Fibre Circuits – Powered By Neotel

Du Pont Telecom provides an alternative broadband fibre connectivity solution through Neotel. This service also requires a feasibility study carried out by the service provider. The speed of links varies from a minimum 2Mbps up to 1Gbps. Pricing for links above 100Mbps is available on request. The links are provided with two SLA options as follows:

  • Economy – designed with single fibre link out of each site with 99.0% availability
  • Business – based on 99.5% availability and dual redundant fibre links from each site

The solution’s bandwidth component is available in three distinct service classes as follows:

  • COS 1 – optimal for video and voice related requirements
  • COS 2 – most suitable for business data traffic and applications
  • COS 3 – ideal for standard internet access and managed service requirements
